Core Concept Islamic Beliefs Christian Beliefs
The Creator Allah (God Almighty) is the only Creator of all that exists. God Almighty is the only Creator of all that exists. (Gen. 1:1)
Monotheism & Prophets There is one God (Allah). Jesus is the Christ, born of a miracle, and Muhammad (PBUH) is His last prophet. Both stated God is One and must be served with all heart, mind, and strength. There is one God. He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Note: The word "Trinity" itself is not in the Bible).
Divine Nature & Attributes Allah reveals His 99 Divine Attributes and does not compare Himself to any of His creation. God has revealed Himself as "One God" and "One Lord". (Deuteronomy 6:3; Mark 12:29)
Creation of Humanity Allah created man from dirt, "in His image" and of "His spirit," yet God has no likeness of anything in creation. God created man from dirt and the image of God. (Genesis 1)
The First Sin Adam & Eve sinned, then repented and were forgiven, leaving no continuing spiritual effects or guilt on their children. Adam and Eve sinned, bringing sin into the world, and their sins passed on to their children. (Genesis 3:1–7)
Inherited Sin Nature God forgave Adam and Eve after they repented, making Adam His deputy (caliph) and the first prophet on Earth. Original Sin: All of Adam's posterity are born with a sin nature and are sinful from birth. (Romans 3:22–23, 1 John 1:10)
Human Nature & Salvation Man is basically good but prone to mistakes. Muslims who repent and submit to God are forgiven directly, without needing intercession from Christ or anyone else. Man is by nature sinful and requires redemption via the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:6, Colossians 1:19–20, Hebrews 7:26–27)
Relationship with God Through submission to the Will of God in peace, anyone, anywhere, at any time becomes a servant of Allah and draws closer to Him. Through the sacrificial work of Christ, God adopts Christians into His family and calls them His children. (Romans 8:14–15, Ephesians 1:5, Galatians 4:5)
Anthropomorphism Allah is entirely unlike His creation. He is neither male nor female, nor is creation like Him. The Bible states: "God is not a man… not the son of man…" (Numbers 23:19). Other biblical sections use anthropomorphic language.
